E36 w/ LSx?

I Have a 95 E36 4DR Auto.. I bought it for 800 bucks with a fucked up grille and broken headlamps. the car is piss slow and has no hope being an auto! I'm consulting options here.. I found a few people that have swapped LSx motors into their E36's. A little costly but a nice project and could very well be done and burnin' tires before falls end.. I've done auto to manual conversions before with a few buddies. Anyone got any other suggestions within' reason?

Re: E36 w/ LSx?

yea an lsx would cost a nice amount. You could do the common s52 swap for pretty cheap or the s54 swap for a little less than a lsx would cost.

more specifically iam in San Luis Obispo. A place completely void of bad, ugly or treacherous weather. That doesnt change the fact that we as Americans are technically in the season of winter.

Re: E36 w/ LSx?

Well the winter off season is the time to do your shit w/ a project car... lots of time you wouldnt be driving it anyway.

Just toss a 350 small block in it... much easier to tune / get running, and much more friendly to your budget. Weight dist isnt THAT important.

Re: E36 w/ LSx?

If you can find a wrecked mid 90's vette or camaro/trans am they have aluminum 5.7's in them so it would help with weight dist

Re: E36 w/ LSx?

I live in Allentown, PA it's like a small philly.. hood. This place is surrounded by honda's and toyota's and not new ones either!!! Vette owners around here don't exist. I can't even find junker types. My 800 dolla E36 is top notch on the streets of allentown.. HAHAAAHa

Re: E36 w/ LSx?

Hmm.. I should just go with some boost.. just gonna have to do that auto/manual swap. I doubt the stock auto will hold any boost.

Re: E36 w/ LSx?

You can find out by doing repeated neutral drops till you find out how much it can take.
